The five-door Mahindra Thar is undergoing testing ahead of its 2024 launch. New spy images reveal that the SUV could get a new grille, LED projector headlights, updated LED taillights, and a set of new alloy wheels.
About Mahindra Five-door Thar
According to reports, Mahindra has officially confirmed the arrival of the new five-door Thar. Furthermore, the automaker has also announced that it will introduce nine brand-new offerings between 2023 and 2020. The global debut of the five-door Thar is expected in the first half of 2024.
Compared to the existing Thar on sale, the five-door Thar will be significantly longer in all dimensions including length and wheelbase. There are two roof options: a hardtop and a soft-top convertible. It can also get new features like LED headlights, LED fog lamps, off-road-oriented suspension, and so on. The 4Xplor all-wheel drive configuration can also be done with different terrain modes like the new Scorpio-N.
In terms of safety equipment, the five-door Thar comes with four or six airbags, hill descent control, an electronic stability program, ABS, EBD, brake assist, all-wheel disc brakes, TPMS, traction control, and seat belts. This could be an installation. Tensioner with force limiter, Isofix mounting points, 360-degree camera mount, and rear parking sensor.
The new Thar five-door is expected to have a redesigned interior and AdrenoX infotainment system compared to the XUV700. Mahindra is also likely to offer it with a larger digital driver display, new steering wheel, USB Type-C port, wireless charger, connected car feature, engine start/stop switch, and auto-dimming on the remote control.

Engine and transmission: The 5-door Thar is powered by the same engines as the 3-door version: a 2-litre turbocharged petrol engine and a 2.2-litre diesel engine, albeit slightly different. The engine is expected to offer a choice of six-speed manual and automatic transmissions. Mahindra is expected to offer the five-door Thar both RWD and 4WD configurations.

Powertrain Details
The five-door version of the Thar has the same engine options as the three-door 4WD model: a 2-litre turbocharged petrol engine and a 2.2-litre diesel engine. These engines will be offered with manual and automatic transmissions and will likely be available in all-wheel drive and rear-wheel drive configurations.
In the 3-door version, the petrol turbo engine produces 152 PS/300 Nm, while the diesel engine produces 132 PS/300 Nm. However, in the 5-door version, these engines may have a higher level of tuning, perhaps closer to the Scorpio N.
