iQoo Z9x 5G Review: Specs
The iQoo Z9x 5G is powered by an octa-core 4nm Dimension 7200 SoC with two ARM Cortex-A715 cores and six Cortex-A510 cores clocked at 2.8GHz. This mid-range MediaTek chipset is paired with 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM, and you can enable the “Extended RAM” feature which takes up to 16GB of available storage by taking advantage of up to 8GB of unused storage.
The smartphone supports 5G, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.3, and GPS connectivity along with a USB Type-C port. However, it lacks NFC connectivity, meaning you won’t be able to use the tap-to-pay features of apps like Google Pay and PhonePe. The responsive in-display fingerprint scanner takes less than a second to unlock the phone.
According to the company, the device will receive two operating system updates and three years of security updates, which is common in this price segment, with one exception: the Samsung Galaxy A15 is promised four operating system upgrades and five years of security updates. The iQoo Z9x 5G has a 5,000mAh battery and can be charged at 44W using the included adapter.
iQoo Z9x 5G Review: Display
With the Dimensity 7200 chipset, the iQoo Z9x 5G theoretically offers the best performance for a mid-range smartphone under Rs 20,000. In everyday use, the phone is fast and allows you to switch from one app to another without reloading. It also features a special gaming mode found on other phones from the company that optimizes performance while gaming.
Games like Asphalt 9 run very smoothly on the iQoo Z9x 5G, while games like Battlegrounds Mobile India with the Smooth preset can be played on high settings without throttling after about 45 minutes of play. I was able to play Genshin Impact on the iQoo Z9x 5G, but it ran only slightly smoothly – even after I selected the lowest graphics settings in the game.
We also ran some performance benchmarks on the iQoo Z9x 5G and found that it performs significantly better than other smartphones in this price segment. On AnTuTu 10, the phone scored 687,545, while on Geekbench its single-core and multi-core scores were 1,151 and 2,669 respectively. In the PCMark Work 3.0 benchmark, the iQoo Z9x achieved 13,319 points.
iQoo Z9x 5G Review: Camera
The iQoo Z9x has a 50-megapixel main camera, a Sony IMX882 sensor with f/1.8 aperture, and a 2-megapixel depth sensor with f/2.4 aperture. The phone has a 16-megapixel front camera with f/2.0 aperture for selfies and video chats.
Photos taken with the main camera are sharp and colors appear accurate when shooting at standard zoom (1x). The camera interface allows you to quickly switch to 2x, which appears to be an in-sensor crop that also delivers photos with enough detail. This camera is good for people, plants, and pets. If there is enough natural light, you can also take good portrait photos.
The iQoo Z9x has only one usable rear camera that works reliably during the day. However, if you want to take photos in low-light conditions, the built-in night mode is more suitable. If your subject isn’t moving, Night Mode can produce better shots than Standard Mode by reducing noise and artifacts without applying too much blur.
Because it doesn’t have an ultra-wide-angle camera, I had to step back to photograph large subjects close to me, such as buildings. In most cases, this is not a problem, but some photos can be difficult to click. Unlike similar phones in this price segment, the iQoo Z9x does not have a macro camera for close-up shots.
The main camera also has a 50-megapixel mode that takes photos faster while delivering higher-resolution images than the standard mode. This mode is best suited for close-up subjects and produces images with more detail and slightly larger file sizes.
Selfies taken with the iQoo Z9x are clear and look good when there is enough lighting. So if you click your photos during the day, you should not face any problems. In low-light conditions, selfies taken with the handset have some noise and aren’t as sharp as phones, making these images smoother. The video performance of the iQoo Z9x is on par with other smartphones.

Conclusion
If you are looking for a budget mid-range smartphone with good performance and good photo quality, the iQoo Z9x 5G is a good option at this price. It offers reliable battery life and has a bright AMOLED screen, while the processor punches well above its weight and is compensated by the less-than-ideal UFS 2.2 storage.
If your budget is a bit higher, you can also consider the Nothing Phone 2a, which has a better main camera. and clean software. However, there is no charging brick included in the box, an issue you won’t face with the iQoo Z9x.
