Regarding the Government of India’s plan to promote indigenous sports, Sumitra Mahajan said, “Government has launched Khelo India to promote indigenous sports. After Khelo India many players have shown their talent in various sports. Kho Kho Federation President Sudhanshu Mittal has been at the forefront of promoting the sport and under his leadership the Kho Kho Federation has charted a new path. The promotion of Indian sports is a priority of the government. We not only hope but believe that Kho Kho will strengthen its identity as an Indian sport in the world in the future.

Maharashtra dominated the 56th National Kho-Kho Championship

Team Maharashtra won the 56th National Kho Kho Championship 2023-2024. The men’s and women’s titles were won at the Karnail Singh Stadium and the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium in Delhi. The winning team was awarded a cash prize of Rs 3 lakh and a trophy. The runners-up received a cash prize of Rs 2 lakh and a trophy.

Maharashtra is the 56th National Kho Kho Men’s Champion

Maharashtra men’s team defeated Indian Railways in the final match played at the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium. The teams were tied 32-32 at the end of regulation time. Maharashtra beat Indian Railways 52-50 in the third innings.

In the semi-finals, Maharashtra men defeated Kolhapur by 30-28. Indian Railways, the second finalist, defeated Odisha 24-22 in the second semi-final.

Maharashtra is also the 56th National Kho Kho Women’s Champion

In the women’s group, the Maharashtra team led by Sampada Maurya defeated the Airport Authority of India team by 18-16 points. Maharashtra defeated Odisha 24-20 in the semi-finals while the Airport Authority of India defeated Delhi 32-10 to reach the final. The final match was played at the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium in Delhi.

56th National Kho Kho Championship 2023-2024

The 56th National Kho-Kho Championship 2023–24 was organized by the Indian Kho-Kho Federation from 28 March to 1 April 2024 at the Karnail Singh Stadium and the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium in Delhi.

For the men, 37 teams participated, divided into 8 groups. 37 teams divided into eight groups participated in the women’s group.
